Rand Club – Johannesburg
33 Loveday Street and Fox Street, Marshalltown,

The heart of Southern Africa's economy still beats powerfully in Johannesburg's city centre, where the world's mining, banking, and political giants compete for a share of the country's wealth above and below the ground. Majestically beautiful, Rand Club offers a quiet sanctuary in plush comfort, where Members escape the mayhem of city life to enjoy delicious meals cooked to order, put their feet up, read the day's papers, surf the net, and have a drink and a chat with a friend or two for an hour or more.
Generous armchairs and button-studded leather sofas, ruby-red carpets, wrought-iron railings, polished copper, bronze and burnished wood are a far cry from the raw timber and iron shantytown from which it sprang amidst ox wagons, mining shafts, manual labour, quick riches, and long despair. The African National Congress has offices right next door now. Gold-, diamonds, platinum and coal mining mega houses are just down the road; powerful workers' unions are headquartered just around the corner, and a democratically-elected provincial legislature occupies entire blocks within the city centre. The judiciary, lawyers, accountants, marketers, and investors fill the flanks.
The Main Dining Room offers formal dining daily for Members and their guests, seating up to 220 people for a function. The Assore Sports Lounge on the ground floor serves casual pub lunches every day, with three large-screen TVs for sports and news. The Spencer Whiting Armoury on the first floor offers casual dining. Six more modern and beautiful Member-decorated function rooms are situated on the second floor and accommodate from 6 to 80 people for catered functions, each with their own unique histories and colour schemes.
