The Wellington Club is New Zealand's oldest private Club. Founded in December 1841, it now owns an elegant seven-storey building on the same Terrace site as the previous two Clubhouses. The present building was opened in February 1990 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, who is an Honorary Member of the Club.Membership is vibrant and currently sits at some 1,270 members. The Club’s members are from a wide variety of professions reflecting New Zealand's diverse community and interests. The Club admits both men and women.

While tradition still plays an important part in daily club life, the Wellington Club offers - besides its formal floor on level 5 - attractive, modern and contemporary premises on the 4th and 6th floors. Contributing to this is an outside balcony on the 6th floor overlooking parts of the City and The Terrace - Wellington's mai n commercial artery.
